District History & 90-Year Heritage
Preserving the testimony of 1936–2026 and preparing the next generation for faithful service.
A District Witness Across Generations
The Historic Edenton District commemorates the beginning of its district history in 1936 and marked ninety years in 2026. Its story is built on worship, preaching, prayer, consecration, missionary service, and the faithful work of congregations throughout northeastern North Carolina. This archive is being developed to preserve names, dates, programs, photos, and testimony responsibly.
Regional Pentecostal Roots
North Carolina’s Department of Natural and Cultural Resources documents that Elder Aaron Bazemore founded St. John Church of God in Christ in 1911 near Windsor, and that his ministry influenced the development of churches across eastern North Carolina, including Edenton. That context predates the district’s 1936 commemorative founding date; it should not be confused with a documented founding chronology for this district.
Our 90th Anniversary
The 2026 commemorative year provides a pivotal opportunity to gather the district’s historical documents, recognize faithful leaders, preserve church narratives, and make the district’s legacy accessible to youth and future generations.
